YOGYAKARTA (10/02/2025) – Sanata Dharma University (SDU) welcomes six students from HAN University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands, through an annual student exchange program. They will attend chosen courses in various study programs at Sanata Dharma University and participate in internships with the SDU’s partners for one semester.
The students are Youri van de Lagemaat, Tim van de Werken, Daisy van Hoof, Lies Johanna Wilhelmina Verbruggen, Luuk Arentsen, and Thijs van Vilsteren, who attended an orientation organized by Biro Kerjasama dan Hubungan Internasional (BKHI). The orientation was also attended by Vice Rector IV, Caecilia Tutyandari, Ph.D., and Yuseva Ariyami Iswandari, Ph.D., as the Internship Coordinator.
Before the orientation began, HAN University students participated in a campus tour to introduce themselves to the campus environment. This activity guided them to the classrooms they will use during their studies, campus facilities, and various activities they can engage in while at SDU. The orientation attended by the students covered various aspects of their program, highlighting discussions on courses within their chosen study programs, which include English Literature, English Education, and Accounting. Additionally, they received essential information regarding stay permits and class regulations, which will help them adapt to the academic environment in Indonesia.

Their enthusiasm for studying at SDU was reflected in their first impressions. “I really enjoy the atmosphere at Sanata Dharma University; it feels spacious and refreshing. The campus looks green with many trees,” Daisy shared with admiration.
In addition to attending courses and internships, students from HAN University also wish to take part in extracurricular activities, such as joining USD’s football club. By managing their time effectively, they aim not only to learn but also to develop new skills, immerse themselves in Indonesian culture, and adapt to their new environment.
